Baptisms and Thanksgiving

Baptism (sometimes called a Christening) is a public event where you
declare your faith in Jesus Christ, and God receives you as part of his
family. You make promises to try to live as a Christian in the world.
Anyone, of any age can be baptised. We are happy to baptise babies
as well as adults – babies need people who will make the promises on
their behalf (parents and godparents). If you are interested in baptism,
either for yourself or for your child, please contact one of us and we will
be delighted to talk about it. usually we’ll arrange to come and see you to talk it all
through and to fix a date.
You usually need to live within the parish, or to have some strong connection with
 St Paul & St Stephen’s.
There is no charge for a baptism, but we are always happy to receive donations.

If you feel that baptism is not quite what you are looking for but you would still like
to something in church to celebrate your child, we offer a service of thanksgiving.

This is not the same as a baptism but it is a beautiful
service where we simply pray
for God’s blessing on your child and give thanks for their existence.
